I have some great news. I just added the 50mm f/1.8 (nifty fifty) to my bag of glass. This is a wonderful lens.

Pros:

  • Very Sharp
  • Great Bokah
  • Light as a feather
  • Cheap as dirt (price, not picture quality)
  • Being a prime, you have to move around more

Cons:

  • Cheaply made (plastic casing and mount)
  • Being a prime, you have more limitations

When I received this lens, it was a bit of an ordeal. Our local post office is absolutely incompetent. But no worries after leaving work for an extended lunch and taking care of some paperwork for my lovely fiancee to grab the box for me, I was satisfied. I got home picked up the box and thought to myself… “is there anything in here”. Which, funny enough, was the first thing Jane asked me when she called to let me know she got it. This thing is light… I mean VERY VERY light. As if its non-existant. But its a great thing, it definitely allows more mobility for my camera. But I digress.

I haven’t had the opportunity to really use this lens so I will update the review more as time and pictures build up.

As it stands I give it 8/10.
