Ahhh… Sear’s Tower, you are so iconic to this wonderful city. It would be tragic if I did not incorporate your grandeur into my work. Sooo, without further delay, I give to you the first of what will likely be many Sears Tower images.
Now, there is a bit of an argument going on here in town over the name. While around the world “Willis Tower” is becoming more widely known, here in Chicago and surrounding areas, Sears is and will always be the standing name among locals.
“Although Sears’s naming rights expired in 2003, the building continued to be called the Sears Tower for several years. In March 2009,London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings agreed to lease a portion of the building, and obtained the building’s naming rights. On July 16, 2009, the building was officially renamed the Willis Tower.” [From Wikipedia – Why restate whats already a winning explanation]
The following two Images are from two separate vantage points. One from across the street, trying my damnedest to get the best of the structure in my frame with the wonderful cloud coverage of the day. The first (shown above – and my favorite) was taken from directly below. I hugged the structures base as tight as I could, attempting to stay out of the traffic hustling around behind me. Also I have seen far to many “general” full structure images of this tower and wanted something more unique and artistic.
Hope you enjoy.
