Last evening, I visited Millenium Park to view the “Luminous Field” light installation by Luftwerk. A wonderful project by artist’s Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero. This incredible visual showcase was accompanied by a dance act by members of the group, Collaboraction, including my good friend Nate.
The interactive light show is built around Cloud Gate. A structure best known by Chicago resident’s as “The Bean”. Illuminated from all sides, creating manosharie of patterns and colors. It is truly a site to behold and if your in the Chicago area between February 10th and 20th, I highly recommend a visit.
Now, truth be told, the lighting was an absolute pain in the ass. I had settings going north and south. After a few hundred shots… seriously… I was able to garner a select handful of images I feel were passable. I’m telling ya, I was pulling my hair out trying to get it right.
Many thanks to Nathanael Card (a member of Collaboraction) for the invite, I hope you dig what I could muster.
Edit: My apologies for the typo. Some reason my fingers wanted to add an extra “i” to Luminous Field. This has been corrected. Feb 10, 2012, 1:09pm
