^^ Current Proposed Route ^^

The time has come to start talking more about our plans for this upcoming summer and I am VERY excited to get underway.

I feel this is as good a time as ever to announce that we will be moving to the Northern California Bay area, this June.

After being in Chicago, IL for more than 2 years now, the wind has began blowing west. Its been a wonderful ride, with amazing people, beautiful views and a couple of the most interesting years I’ve experienced. During my time here, my photographic eye emerged and I thank the sights and sounds of the Windy City for that. I have had the honor of capturing my best pieces within this urban jungle. But now its time to take my eye to a new land.

My fiancee and I have always wanted to lay down some roots on the west coast. We adored our visit to San Francisco and instantly yearned for the salty air of the Bay. After some recent circumstances started out sour, we figured a sweet resolve the best approach. So with our new found freedom to do pretty much whatever we want, what better time than now to go to where we love…

This is where the real fun comes in. Through this project, we will be touring from Southern Illinois to the San Francisco Bay. Traveling by Van, hitting campsites and small rural towns as I document it all along the way.

I would love for you to follow along and maybe… just maybe, snatch up a piece of the trip for yourself… 😉

Now as many who know me personally can attest, I have been a traditional media artist for a very long time and a graphic designer for a little over 10 years now. It was only recently that I rekindled my love for the lens. I’ve always enjoyed being the paparazzi for our family and friend gatherings: snapping away, paying little mind to what I was taking, just so long as the images were frozen in time. But last year I decided that I just wasn’t getting any satisfaction out of my graphic design and traditional media just didn’t interest me any more. For me, pencils and advertising only go so far to express my vision of the world.

So I picked up my camera and dove back in, hard. This time I made the decision to really bare down and make each image I take, the best it can possibly be. To take what I capture in my lil box and show my viewers how the world looks through my eyes. Emphasizing lines, texture and the basic fundamentals of a subject. I look forward to applying this to our travels.

If this is the first time you have read my blog, feel free to take a peek in my galleries. Check out what I have done and what I am capable of. For those that have followed me on this site or the various social services have a pretty good idea of what’s to come. That said, imagine the opportunities a cross-country, 7-day tour can bring. Big Smile

So in June of this year, we’re throwing caution to the wind and heading west. No wagon trains… for this journey, a travel van will do nicely. Or as we intend to call it…. “The Van of Destiny.” My goal is to document the beautiful scenery, towns and people by completing no less than 200 finished photos representing the 2000+ miles we will be driving.

As of current, the following personal projects have been proposed for the tour:

In-Motion Series
1. Signs of the US Highways
2. Commuters of the US Highways
3. *Accepting Suggestions*

Scenic Series
1. Plateaus of the West
2. Deserted Highways
3. The Plains
4. *Accepting Suggestions*

Down for the Night Series
1. Desert Star Streams
2. Campsites

Rural Series
1. Small Town Life (small towns street photography)
2. Rural Shops (architectural focus)
3. *Accepting Suggestions*

All work will be formed into a series of photo books and fine art prints that will be released shortly after the tour is completed.  These works will be available for sale to the general public and as gifts to individuals that opt to fund the tour through my upcoming IndieGoGo campaign… You know you want to help this day-dreaming fool bring this project to the world. Campaign updates and links to help fund the project will be posted soon so stay tuned.
